These breeds have a gene mutation that makes growing hair a rare occurrence.
These breeds’ lack of gene can also be so dominant that it’s passed to offspring from crossbreeding.
The hairless breeds are relatively rare, and owning hairless dogs is fast becoming fancy.
Some hairless dog owners choose them for allergy reasons, while others prefer them because of the growing exciting feeling and public attraction associated with owning one.
Hairless breeds are generally low-maintenance but are exposed to things a fur would naturally protect against.
They can’t stay in the sun for a long time else they’ll get sunburns.
They may also get rashes from staying in grasses or bruises from rubbing their skin against hard surfaces.
The hairless skin requires protection, getting a sunscreen to prevent sunburns or a jacket from providing warmth.
